NATALIE DON-INNES MSP: SCOTLAND’S FUTURE MUST BE IN YOUR HANDS

Natalie Don-Innes, MSP for Renfrewshire North and West, has said “it should be up to all of us” to determine Scotland’s future following the publication of the SNP Government’s paper Your Right To Decide.

Speaking this morning, First Minister John Swinney made clear that Scotland’s constitutional future must be decided by the people who live here - not by Westminster. He highlighted the contradiction of Westminster parties claiming the UK is a voluntary union while blocking Scots from exercising their democratic right to choose.

The First Minister also pointed out that by 2030, one million young people will be eligible to vote who were too young in 2014 - a whole new generation who deserve the chance to shape Scotland’s future.

This comes after a recent poll which shows that a majority of Scots agree that the people of Scotland should have the right to determine their own future.

Commenting, Natalie Don-Innes MSP said:

“In a democratic nation like Scotland, it is fundamental that people are able to determine their future - and the people of Renfrewshire are no different.

“Yet despite all their talk of a ‘voluntary union’, Westminster parties want to deny you a say. That is unacceptable and unsustainable.

“With independence we can build a fairer and more prosperous Scotland - using our renewable wealth to lower bills, protecting our NHS and public services for generations to come, and taking our rightful place in Europe.

“This is about more than politics. It is about democracy and fairness. It should be up to all of us - not Westminster politicians - to determine Scotland’s future.

“That is why the SNP is clear: by voting for an SNP majority in 2026, we can secure your right to decide and give Scotland a fresh start with independence.”
